By-Law 3 - Games
All league games must be officiated by NBHOA officials under the rules of the CHA and any other playing rules sanctioned by the HNB, the NBSHC and/or the SHL with the addition of the “two fight” rule, so that after the second fight in any game the player is then ejected from that game.
Overtime in regular season games shall be five minutes sudden death with each team playing four on four and each team defending the same net it defended in the third period. The winning team shall receive two points in the standings and the losing team shall receive one point. Should a shootout be required, each team will select three different shooters for a single shot. Should the teams be tied following the initial three-player designate, a single elimination shootout will follow. A team must use all of its dressed players for the shootout should it continue to remain tied. The winning team of the shootout shall receive two points and the losing team will receive one point.
3-3 Should a short handed situation arise in overtime, the NHL rule shall apply of four V. three man advantage.
Visiting teams shall be allowed fifteen minutes grace time from the scheduled start time of the game, before forfeiting the game. Teams arriving late may forfeit their warm up time at the discretion of the referee and officials of the home team.
If the weather does not permit travel, the visiting team shall notify the home team, the Secretary and the game officials at least four hours, prior to the scheduled game time. Wherever possible, that game is to be re-scheduled.
Postponements for reasons other than weather will be governed by the following;
All teams must play all scheduled games during the regular season and playoffs, or forfeit that game;
Any games to be postponed, must be mutually agreed upon by the teams involved and the President.
Date, time and place for make up games shall be mutually agreed upon within seventy-two (72) hours before the game is to be played.
If teams cannot mutually agree to the terms and conditions of a rescheduled game, the President will intervene.
In the event a team does not show up to play any game, including a postponed rescheduled game as provided for herein above, that team shall forfeit the game and in addition, it shall be fined $2000.00 (to be forwarded to the effected team member club) .The President shall thereafter conduct a review of the circumstances leading to the forfeiture of the game and determine if any further disciplinary action the league should take. .
All SHL member teams shall book at least two extra dates at arenas for end of season makeup games. The games can be played at neutral site arenas if necessary.
The home team shall provide the visiting team with a copy of the game report, and if possible, any writings made by the on ice official on the Official Game Report. The home team shall fax a legible copy of the game report to the league Statistician within three hours of the completion of the game. A failure to do so will result in a $50.00 fine for the first offence and a fine of $75.00 for every subsequent offence.
3-8 The home team must provide the original white copy of each game report to the Statistician as soon as possible. In the event the on ice official writes an incident report, on the back of the Official Game Report or elsewhere, the on ice official shall be requested to provide such written incident report to the President of the Statistician, in person, via fax or by electronic mail, whichever is the most practical. The Statistician shall, as soon as possible, notify the President of any incident reports written by the on ice official and provide a copy of same to the President, who shall in turn provide a copy of same to the both home and visiting teams that participated in that game.
3-9 The home team shall provide adequate security to protect the patrons and members of the visiting teams.
3-10 The home team shall provide a competent timekeeper and scorer for each game. During the playoffs, the home team has the option of providing competent and independent goal judges.
If two or more teams complete the season with the same number of
points in the standings, then the HNB tie breaker rule shall be resorted to for a winner to be declared. |
